Salt and Light

In Matthew 5:13-16 Jesus says,
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version(Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Mt 5:13–16.
Salt changes the make up of what it comes into contact with. What differences are you making in the lives of those around you? You can be a good influence or a bad one, which are you? If you are a Christian you are called to be a good one. If you lose the ability to change those you are around or your influence becomes corrupt what good are you to the kingdom of God? You are of no value any longer. So do all you can and trust the Spirit that you will not lose your taste (metaphorically speaking that is).
As a Christian you are called the Light of the world. Not a light to be hidden but the light to be put upon display. You cannot be a light if you are not willing to shine in the world. The things you do are not to be for your own glory but to the glory of God through Jesus Christ. These seem like easy things to consider but they are hard to live out at times. I want to encourage you to follow after Jesus and not your just your heart. It’s not to say your heart doesn’t have a part to play but it is not to be the guiding factor in how you chose to live your life.
I want you to live each day to the glory of God. How does your life reflect Christ to the world?

I Would Love to Hear From You
